Ground Teams

All team members complete the required training to be deployed as ground searchers in North Carolina, ensuring they meet the state’s standards for safety, efficiency, and coordination during search and rescue missions. This foundational training covers essential skills such as search tactics, land navigation, clue awareness and survival techniques, which prepares our members to operate effectively in a wide range of environments and conditions. Whether searching dense forests, urban areas, or disaster zones, each member is equipped to contribute meaningfully to the mission.

Beyond the basics, team members also demonstrate a solid understanding of search theory and lost person behavior—two critical components of every successful search operation. By studying real-world case data and behavioral patterns of missing individuals, searchers learn how to predict movement and identify high-probability search areas. This knowledge helps teams deploy resources strategically, increasing the chances of a timely and successful outcome.

Additionally, the team stays up-to-date with basic first aid, radio communication, and the latest tools and technology used by North Carolina first responders, including GPS tracking systems, mapping software, and communication platforms. Team members attend regular training exercises that give them hands-on experience with these skills, and foster relationships with local agencies that makes interoperability easier in multi-agency responses.

Through this commitment to continuous learning and practical skill development, team members are prepared to respond professionally and effectively whenever they are called upon.
